Gig Review: Shed Seven at Scarborough Open Air Theatre
Summer anthems, seaside vibes and a Rowetta surprise
🎸 Shed Seven Scarborough Open Air Theatre
14th June 2025
This year’s Shed Seven date at the Scarborough Open Air Theatre was one of my favourite summer gigs. We decided to stay outside Scarborough town centre for a change, and it worked perfectly. Just a quick drive in and park. Accommodation was cheaper, and since I’m not bothered about drinking late into the night, it made a lot of sense and took the stress out of the trip.
The open air setting at Scarborough is hard to beat. Seaside breeze, relaxed vibe and a crowd ready to sing along to every chorus.
🎤 Support Act
Before Shed Seven hit the stage, Jake Bugg opened for the band. A great pairing for a sunny seaside gig. The distinct acoustic guitar sound set the tone nicely and warmed the crowd up early. A handful of covers and familiar favourites got everyone nodding along, and by the time their set wrapped, the place was well and truly primed for headliner Shed Seven. I’ve never really been a massive fan of him on the acoustic tracks he does.
🎶 Setlist (Scarborough, 14th June 2025)

A cross section of classic singles, fan favourites and energetic crowd movers. The band’s tightness was obvious from the start, and the crowd sang every word right back at them.
⭐ Rowetta Guest Appearance
Highlight of the night for many was Rowetta, yes, Rowetta from Happy Mondays, joining Shed Seven on stage for a powerful vocal duet during In Ecstacy. Her voice added a rich, soulful layer and the crowd absolutely loved it. It felt like a proper crossover moment, unexpected and brilliant.
🌅 Vibe & Atmosphere
The atmosphere was electric but friendly. Big singalongs without any of the pretension you sometimes get at bigger stadium shows. The seaside backdrop, warm June evening and the open sky made the whole night feel like a classic summer memory.
What stood out was the crowd’s energy right from the opening chords of Shed Seven’s set. Scarborough knows its music, and this gig felt like a celebration rather than just a concert.
📝 Final Thoughts
Shed Seven at Scarborough Open Air Theatre was exactly the kind of gig you hope summer will bring:
✔ Great support set from Cast (if you are a fan)
✔ Massive singalongs across decades of hits
✔ Rowetta stealing the show with a standout guest moment
✔ Laid back seaside vibe and easy logistics with parking and accommodation
All told, it was a fantastic night. Singalongs, smiles and memories made. Shed Seven proved once again why they are one of the greats of British guitar pop, and Scarborough proved itself as a brilliant festival style backdrop.
Looking forward to next year already.
